    Janine is the founder of Outside Partner. Working with a global network of coaching associates and entrepreneurs, Outside Partner supports executives and business owners in their drive for personal and commercial success. Janine focuses on leadership, commercial/organisational strategy and personal/team effectiveness.

    In over 20 years holding HR leadership roles Janine worked on and with a variety of boards, executive committees, sales/marketing functions and individual business leaders to deliver their business strategy across a broad section of sales-driven industries. Throughout her corporate career she gained an appreciation of what ‘good’ looks like as well as experience of how to navigate the challenges of the increasing pace of change in the modern work environment with blue-chip employers including NatWest, Goldman Sachs, Dixons Carphone (DSGi), The Brambles Group and Hilton Worldwide. Her clients now range from senior leaders in FTSE100 organisations to SMEs.

    Janine earned an MBA and a PhD from Manchester Business School / University of Manchester researching the Development of Market-Oriented Organisations. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD). Her personal passions are her family and competitive ballroom dancing.

    Emma is the former Sales & Marketing Director for Eurostar, who has established her own Brand & People Consultancy, Glow London. Since launching Glow in 2012, she has worked with client boards and leadership teams on brand, client service and marketing strategy projects as well as mentoring, coaching and advising; ultimately doing what she loves doing which is helping businesses and people to focus on their strengths, blossom and grow.

    Emma's clients have included OMD, AMV, Eurostar, Virgin Holidays and Marcus Wareing Restaurants. She is spending the majority of 2015 working with Virgin Management, leading the brand strategy for the launch of an exciting new Virgin business.

    Emma is a mentor on the Marketing Academy and is one of our committee members on the Merlin's Apprentice Million Pound Fund.

    Claire Harrison-Church

    Claire is one of a handful of senior marketers who has excelled in both FMCG, Food Service and Retail, loves numbers and commercial challenge but perfectly at home encouraging creative teams to think big.

    Claire most recently was VP Marketing/ Customer Proposition at ASDA where her achievements included Exec sign off of a 3 year customer strategy, a revamp of all Own brand ranges (so 8000 product lines), new advertising that included bringing back the pocket tap briefly as well as driving better use of Digital in both brand comms and ecommerce.

    Claire started her career as a graduate trainee with Unilever, spent 15 years in a variety of senior marketing roles followed by 5 years on the board of KFC UK as Marketing Director - where a combination of brave advertising, radical store redesign and a host of NPD drove double digit sales growth.  From there she joined Boots where as Brand Communications Director she was responsible for award winning TV advertising ‘Here come the Girls’ and managing all aspects of their customer activity plan. She then made the move to Sainsbury’s and oversaw launch of new brand strategy Live Well for Less that continues today. Prior to ASDA Claire spent 2 years as Category Business Director at Premier Foods figuring out how to turnaround their Cake business including a £25M capital investment.

    Claire’s achievements include award winning advertising at KFC, Boots and Sainsbury’s, repositioning of Sainsbury’s to more ably compete in the ‘post- Aldi/Lidl’ market, saving Mr Kipling cakes from a slow painful decline, and hopefully helping ASDA start to regain momentum with a 3 year turnaround customer strategy.

    Ben Bengougam

    Ben Bengougam was appointed in May 2010 as Vice President HR Europe for Hilton Worldwide, having previously been based in Kuwait in the position of HR Director Middle East for MHAlshaya. Ben had run his strategic HR practice for nearly a year after 7 years at the Dixons Group (FTSE100) where he was Group HR Director on the Executive Board of a pan European Electrical Retailer employing 42,000 people in 13 countries.

     He was previously Chief People Officer at ebeon, an Irish/global e-business builder and services provider.  Ben had joined ebeon from Pegasus Solutions Inc., a Dallas based Nasdaq quoted hotel technology and distribution management company, where he held the title of executive vice president, human resources, and where he was also in charge of worldwide facilities and customer training fulfillment.

    Prior to that he had held the same responsibilities at REZsolutions, Inc as Executive Vice President based in Phoenix, Arizona USA and as Human Resources Director of London based Utell International.

    Previously, Bengougam had spent 11 years with Forte International Hotels in various operational and human resource management roles. His last role there was as Human Resources Director for the Forte Grand Division. Bengougam is a BSC engineering science graduate and subsequently obtained a Master's Degree in Human Resources Development.

    Ben took over HR Operations for the Middle East and Africa region of Hilton Worldwide in April 2013.

    Gary Booker, Chief Marketing, Innovations & Strategy Officer - Rentokil Initial

    Gary Booker

    Management Strategy Consultant, Non-Executive Director, and former CMO of Dixons Carphone, O2, and Electronic ArtsGary was until recently Chief Marketing Officer at Dixons Carphone leading the marketing and customer strategy for the £6.4Bn revenue Currys, PC World and Carphone Warehouse brands, and helping to shape the business into one of the UK’s most successful recent mergers.
    Prior to this he was CMO Europe for Telefonica Digital, and before this held roles as Marketing and Consumer Director and General Manager for all of O2’s Consumer business in the UK, and was Vice President of Marketing, International for Electronic Arts. He is currently a Non-Executive Director and Advisor to a number of boards and start-ups in the Logistics, Food, and Healthcare sectors.
    Over the last 25 years, his career has had a consistent theme of building or transforming businesses through sharp customer focus and customer-insight driven marketing innovation, and the creation of new business opportunities across a wide range of different Consumer and B2B sectors; from Retail, Telco, Digital Entertainment, Sports, Toys and Licensed Merchandise, through to the Automotive industry and several years in Consultancy.
    He holds a BSc. Honours degree in Business, Law and Psychology and an MBA in Strategic Marketing, and is a graduate of the McKinsey Marketing Fellowship programme, a member of the Marketing Group of Great Britain, and a speaker on customer-centricity at Henley Business School.
    Gary has led the commercial growth of one of the UK’s top 100 fastest-growing businesses, accepted a BAFTA on stage on behalf of a far more deserving talent who “unfortunately couldn’t be with us tonight”, and once, unsuccessfully, made tennis rackets for Roger Federer.
    He lives in Oxfordshire and is married with 3 children.

    For over a decade Gemma has been growing and nurturing The Marketing Society’s network, and for the past two years she has spearheaded its international expansion transforming the Society into the leading global network of senior marketers.     An entrepreneur at heart, Gemma runs her own private club, Cabal, for the restless and humble, creating memorable and unique experiences.     Ann Pickering

    Ann (FCIPD) is the Human Resource Director for Telefonica O2 UK Ltd.  She manages an HR team of 120 who provide HR&Learning and Development  services to the 10,500 02 employees in the UK.

    Ann was born in Liverpool, attended University in London where she gained a degree in English. She started her career with Marks and Spencer, joining their Graduate Programme specialising in HR.

    Subsequently, she has held a variety of HR roles in different lines of business; an American investment company, and an international business technology services group operating in the UK, Europe, India and USA.

    Ann’s expertise in Human Resources, together with a strong background in technology brought her to O2 in March 2004.

    She is a Board member of the ‘UnIock the Cure’ Appeal, part of Breast Cancer Campaign and formed to specifically focus on  unlocking the cure for breast cancer.  Ann has also recently been appointed an Advisory Board member of Sheffield University Business School. 

    She is married, lives in Derbyshire and has two boys, Jack and Rory  aged 22 and 20 years old respectively.

    Tom Vick, former Managing Partner - AMV BBDO

    Tom Vick

    Tom’s advertising career has spanned more than twenty-five years in a broad range of roles and agencies.

    He started as a graduate at Ogilvy, rising to New Business Director at the age of 27. He then became Managing Director of independent agency DFGW at the age of 32 and, since overseeing its sale to Freuds in 2007, has held senior management positions at JWT London (where he was Managing Director) and AMV BBDO (where he oversaw global, regional and local brands for Mars Chocolate).

    He is currently at McCann London in a freelance capacity while waiting to land his next permanent role.
    Tom is one of a handful of people to have held board-level positions in advertising, digital, direct marketing and PR agencies and has overseen award-winning campaigns at all major global shows, including Cannes, D&AD, the Webbys, IPA Effectiveness and APG.  

    He is a Fellow of the Institute of Practitioners In Advertising (IPA) and has a passion for developing people and their understanding of how business works. He has interviewed candidates for The Marketing Academy since 2012.

    Outside work, Tom’s main passions are non-league football, fine wine and building Lego with his seven year-old twin daughters.

    David Hilton

    David is currently Global Marketing Director for LUVO. Prior to this he was Sales & Marketing Director for Voiamo, joining in December 2012.

    Previous to this he was Marketing Director for Sony Ericsson where he oversaw the marketing activity in UK & Ireland ranging from brand building, ATL, sponsorships and PR through to the nitty gritty of driving sales in channel with retail POS, sales incentives and field marketing and training. He has over 14 years experience in the internet industry and seen a few companies and business models come and go but right now he is really excited about the huge growth in mobile internet and the new opportunities this offers.

    David headed up a strong young team and worked with many great agency teams so he is excited to be part of the Marketing Academy.

    To her constant surprise (and secret delight) she’s frequently recognised for her work; she received the CIM Women in Marketing 'Special Award for Contribution to Marketing’, was inducted into the Courvoisier Future 500, invited to join the Marketing Group of Great Britain and was most recently identified as one of the UK’s Vision100 by Adobe and AdNews Top 50 list of most powerful influencers in Australia. 

    Despite an exciting and busy working life and perhaps because of it, she’s happiest when at home in Berkshire, England with her husband and 3 daughters.

    Richard has worked internationally with The Coca-Cola Company, domestically with McDonald’s restaurants heading Adult and Family Marketing, and before Oystercatchers with Publicis Worldwide where he tripled the size of the agency’s P&G business in EMEA whilst leading Publicis Groupe’s African expansion in parallel. In addition Richard has worked for Carlson Marketing Group, and gained extensive brand experience including Scottish Courage, Scottish & Newcastle Retail, PepsiCo, Britvic Soft Drinks, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Hotpoint and Orange.

    Away from work Richard is the resident Brand Expert for Channel 5 News, a Director and Trustee of The Ideas Foundation and a regular commentator in the media. Richard is a Chartered Marketer, Council Member of the Management Consultants Association, and has previously been a Board Member of both the European Association of Communication Agencies & the International Agencies Council.

    When time allows Richard is a remarkably slow marathon runner (London, Edinburgh and Tresco) and has created & directed two highly-acclaimed Mount Everest expeditions with Kenton Cool to send the first tweet from the roof of the world (2011) and fulfil a century old pledge between the IOC and Great Britain to place an Olympic Gold medal on to the summit (2012).

Prior to this, Ed was CEO of the media group within News Digital Media. With diverse sales and marketing experience, he has led marketing teams in tourism, banking, IT and media.

    Ed is originally from Melbourne, has an MBA from Monash University and is a director of the Make-A-Wish foundation.

    Steve Walker has 25 years marketing and commercial experience in the tech and communications industries.  Whilst serving as the Chief Marketing Officer of Sony Mobile Communications he was responsible for the successful global launch of the iconic Sony brand into the dynamic smartphone industry, growing the brand’s share significantly and returning the business to profitability.

    Prior to this, Steve was a part of the team that set up the Sony Ericsson joint venture in the mobile handset industry during the early 2000’s and, over the course of that decade, grew this business into the main challenger brand in its sector.  Steve served in several roles during this time including the global head of product marketing and as business-responsible for the development of the future product roadmap.

    In the early years of his career Steve worked with a number of smaller start-up businesses to develop their propositions and market presence as well as serving for five years in a variety of UK-based sales and marketing roles for Ericsson.

    Since mid-2013 Steve has been operating as an independent business consultant, working with several clients to help them establish their corporate, brand and marketing strategy as well as more effective marketing operations.  He believes strongly in the power of brands, communication and story-telling to transform businesses and social enterprises.

    Steve speaks and blogs frequently on the subjects of brand and marketing leadership and is passionate about helping individuals and teams to develop to their full potential.  As a part of his professional portfolio, Steve coaches senior leaders across a variety of organisations- both established businesses and new start-ups.

    Sarah Warby, Chief Growth Officer at Hyperjar

    Sarah Warby

    Sarah is Chief Growth Officer at HyperJar - a FinTech start-up.  Prior to this role, she was CMO at Sainsbury’s for five years, part of the Operating Board and accountable for Sainsbury’s brand and customer activity.  This meant she was responsible for all Sainsbury’s communications, including loyalty, in-store experience and partnerships like the Paralympics and Comic Relief; as well as being the chair of the Trading Board and accountable for Christmas.

    Prior to Sainsbury's, Sarah spent 8 years in the brewing industry; working for Scottish & Newcastle (which was latterly acquired by Heineken). During her time there Sarah was Foster's Marketing Manager, then Innovation Director and ultimately Marketing Director - running the largest portfolio beer & cider portfolio in the UK (Foster's, Strongbow, Kronenbourg 1664, Bulmers, John Smith's to name a few). Prior to S&N Sarah was a planner at Leo Burnett in Sydney, having learned the ropes as a grad trainee at Unilever.  Her first proper job was as a welder in a steel works in South Wales.

    Sarah has an Engineering masters from Oxford and loves being outside - walking, cycling, climbing or scuba diving.  However the swashbuckling-ness of these hobbies has been diminished in recent years with the arrival of her two sons, who are now 9 and 6.

    Craig McCoy

    Craig has an HR background which spans over 30 years across a number of companies in the Technology, Media, Telecommunications, Property and Health and Social Care sectors .  He has worked at Group or Regional HR Director level for a number of international and UK businesses, most notably The Crown Estate, Bupa, BT, Aegis Media, Sky, and Compaq Computer, with overall HR responsibility for up to 15,000 employees.

    He has also worked as a senior change management consultant at Accenture, advising corporate clients in the banking and utilities sectors. He is currently interim Chief Operating Officer for The Brandon Trust, a large charity which provides care and support for people with learning disabilities.

    Craig is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and holds an MA (Hons) in French & Italian from the University of Cambridge. He is a founder member of the judging panel for the Marketing Academy and has served as a judge for each of the 6 years since the Academy was created.
